Thirteen supporters of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu will be doccked on Thursday, December 17 in Abuja.
The activists, headed by a certain Agbo Moses, were arraigned on December 2 by a detachment of police personnel during a protest at the premises of the Magistrate Court in the Wuse District of Abuja when Mr. Kanu was brought before court.
The men had come to court to express solidarity Kanu, who was charged by the magistrate court.
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the counsel to the 13 men, said that his clients are now demanding arraignment based on the remand order the police unveiled from the court on the day of their arrest.
He said: “When the police arrested the 13 men, they (the police) approached the Magistrate court for an order to have them remanded in prison.”
“In that order, the Magistrate court asked that they be produced in court on December 17.”
The counsel revealed that his clients had now appealed the magistrate demanding their release from prison once arrested.
The 13 activists are Agbo Moses, Oruna Okechukwu, Ede Uchenna, Ede Emeka, Chidi Ogo, Ani Chukwuemeka, Ezenwankwo Obumneme, Chukwunonso Ekwonu, Anioke Charity, Oko Ugochi, Adibe Dorathy, Aluma Samuel, and Ochor Chigozie.
The court has today December 16 discharged Nnamdi Kanu on all counts of criminal conspiracy and ownership of an unlawful society brought against him by the federal government.
