10 Pro-Biafra Protesters Arraigned For Conspiracy In Rivers

Ten suspected pro-Biafra protesters were arrested by the Rivers state police command between January 16 and 18.

On Wednesday, January 20, the suspects were arraigned at Magistrate Courts 7 and 14 in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, on two-count charges of criminal conspiracy and treasonable felony, Premium Times reports.
According to a statement made by Ahmad Muhammad, the spokesman of the Rivers state police command, one hearing was adjourned till Thursday, while another one – till Thursday next week.
The suspects are Onu Ifeanyi, Prince Onwazor, Princewill Anyanywu, Sunday Egbim, Uzoma Onyegbu, Chigozie Moses, Chukwudi Enyidau, Anthony Ochuel, Enam David okon, and Friday Nwahiri.
“It would be recalled that the suspects were arrested while on their way to infiltrate Port Harcourt from neighbouring states with the intent to engage in a conduct likely to undermine public peace.”
“The command wishes to further re-emphasize that it will not stand idly and allow any person or group of persons to violate the laws of country by engaging in conducts that are perilous to public peace and order as well as the lives and properties of other law abiding citizens, please,” the statement read.
A few days ago, Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers state, gave directive to security operatives in the state to arrest Biafran and prosecute all pro-Biafra agitators who resorted to illegal protest and assault of innocent law abiding residents. He also called on the  residents of the state to remain calm and law abiding.
Meanwhile, the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered that Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, be remanded in prison. The court also struck out six charges of treasonable felony brought against Kanu by the Department of State Services.
