I use to tell everyone around me who wishes to buy a big dish to always go for the biggest that he or she can afford putting inot consideration the space where it will be installed. I mean I can’t see myself buy a 1 meter dish when i have the space for a 4 meter dish. I will rather wait until i have enough money before i buy anything at all. A very good example is about hotbird packages; In Nigeria, you cant receive any meaningful hotbird channels if you have a dish lesser than 3 meter. This aloe has contribute to the longevity of hotbird. I mean hotbird has been on for more than 7 years without any significant blocking. Now to the business of the day.

MTN Worldwide(Sport24) powervu package on 20w NSS7 has make an upgrade and change their frequency(from 4129 to 4126) on 2016 March,22th! They simply reduce their beam and changed their frequency. The implication of this is that, dish with low signal will not be able to receive their channels. Users should  just blind scan again will get new TP and continue enjoying your sports24. The new TP is (4126 V20465). or (04126 V 20460)

As I was saying, MTN TP signal is now weaker for example if your signal used to be 72%, it can now drop to lile 59 or 62 after using the new TP , People with 1m dish might find it difficult  to get signal well(people with substandard Cband lnb or qsat decoder have zero or little chance of ever getting the signal on their 1 meter dish).

MTN package broadcast signal from 4 satellites, this time only 20w NSS7 MTN happen some specific upgrade and that 20w covers the larger population of African viewers including Nigeria/, other 3 satellite MTN signal did not change. below is the list of the four channels that transmit mtn worldwide signal:

To be fair and sincere, i will not advice any new user to buy a 1 meter dish for powervu especially sony package and mtn worldwide. In fact, right from the outset, you will not be able to track sony packages if you are using any dish lesser than 1.8meter. I think mtn worlwide is going towards that direction now. That notwithstanding, if you already own a 1 meter dish, you can blindscan your decoder(asl long as you are using  a strong decoder or Gsky and in some case, Alpha box). You have the least chance of getting back on action if you are using a qsat decoder with 1 meter dish.

ANALYSIS

For cband channels especially mtn worldwide, you still have a chance of watching something with 40% signal but you wont really enjoy it. It can be stable throughout the day and skip or go off at night. Do not be deceive by the above as the most important is the stability and quality of the signal reception as well as performance after scanning. Not to forget to mention the convenience auto roll function has to offer. I give my ratings as follows:

RATINGS FOR THE GENERAL RATIONAL CONSUMERS:

1. GSKY SERIES 1st position(majorly because it sits comfor=tably in the midst of all the test and it is the best auto roll decoder)
2. ALPHA BOX 2nd position for reasons related to that of the above
3. Strong decoders 3rd position because it is such a fierce competitor. In fact it would have been the overall best had it been it has auto roll features. No wonder the 2nd hand of stong 4922 is now sold for 22k + while 4950 is sold for 17k +. please if you are using strong decoder for powervu, do not buy their latest models, liimt yourself within 49922, 4930 and 4950. In fact insist on 4922.
4. Qsat the 4th position.. you all ready know why. They are not primarily designed for powervu anyways. await their full comeback on dst* and canalsat.

SCORES FOR PROFESSIONAL INSTALLERS OR DIE HARD STRONG FANS

1. Strong decoder 1st(because it has the strongest signal)
2. Gsky 2nd
3. Alpha 3rd
4. qsat 4th.
